Gold's having a nice year-end. It's up 0.75% on the day, up 9.0% since the low for the year on March 8, and up 74% since the last bear market ended on December 16, 2015. Nothing dramatic, but it serves its function as a store of wealth. The drama comes next.

Russia's back in the game. They added 3.1 metric tonnes of gold to reserves in Sept. bringing their total to 2,299 metric tonnes. It's not about whether Russia likes or dislikes gold. It's about managing gold to 20% of total reserves. Still, they do know how to buy the dips.
