Last week moved the ewes and tup to a new field for fresh grass and good shelter. Every time I go to see them they run up to the gate, to get back to their worn out old pasture...
It's still green, but lift up the turf and the soil underneath is bone dry. Thankfully it is raining now, but we need a lot more before we will have enough grass in our meadow for haymaking.
The goats had a treat this morning, eating up the grass and weeds in this corner while their stable was mucked out.
This little beauty (Nuthatch, I think) hit a window here, but soon recovered and flew away. An unusual visitor to Intake.
Intake's first lambs of 2023. Born outside this morning, now inside for checking and marking, etc.
Some nice late afternoon sunshine at Intake, looking across the upper Lune valley.
A successful scanning on Saturday (178%: good for a hill farm). Ewes all marked up ready for lambing.
After 31mm of rain overnight, it's not surprising that the beck is in spate again.
Approaching sunset and Mallerstang Edge is turning pink.
Giving the Shetlands some extra hay after a day of much better, kinder weather for them.
The hay these sheep are eating all came from our Bottom Meadow and it smells of last July.
