In the east, you call me wren, my hair is lantern-lit your fingers god-like braiding time into my vignette. We breathe as wind skimming onyx waters, a sentient kiss without measure. There are no jealous storms, only miles of savannah lifting its skirt to a blue moon. #vss365
I spent my childhood sitting under her branches, braiding wildflowers to hang on her needles as high as I could reach; She spent her treehood dropping beetles onto my head, offering sap and a place away from the world when I needed a safe spot for a secluded catharsis. #vss365
we dream of haiku days abandoned before our breaths could catch to wonder where the meaning lay now we feel the pull of verse where rhythm knows no silent measure lips & hands in arioso prayer andante lost to faster pace crescendo peaks, yet still we dream of things unnamed
We have our first dance on a rooftop garden, the smoggy tangerine of twilight steals ivory from her wedding dress, but she smiles anyway. As comets ignite the sky,I pull her closer, drown my nose in her hair of lilac and gasoline, praying we make it to the end of our song. #vss365
seventeen rains have come & gone since I have seen you two hundred and ten full moons & new moons but let this #season of melancholy continue these years can't end so soon there are still memories that haven't fully hurt me let them, in this eighteenth monsoon #vss365 #poetry
I imagine she stuffs sunflower petals into the broken part of my heart, tells me about minnows and memories, that it’s okay, this spidering of souls in our season of parting; but I want her back, and listen for her laughter on the wind, and wish for her fingers in my hair. #vss365
Sometime, in the #eclipse of a high shine, when the ambiance of an aboriginal afternoon had come to crest, we stole away to walk about, to speak of beauty beyond fear, but I did not dare think it true lest my hand estrange from yours, and I awoke to a thundering applause. #vss365
Hold me close;I’ll be gone soon, but know you can find me in shadow melting under a waking sun, in the dance of a binary star, in the elation of a poet’s live reading,in the pull to look up at an eclipse, and in the quiet space between breaths of a long needed confession. #vss365
Her kiss tastes of woodsmoke, her fingers playing with wet soil in my hair; she’s aware she renders me skin-drunk in the river, pleasure percolating in the wanton waters under the wistful watch of peeping pines who witness how easily I drown at her touch. #vss365
The concrete splits open and I push through, sacrificing leaves that are stripped from my stem in the struggle, but sunlight kisses my wounds, my petals crippled but fight to unfurl, and the echo of my heartbeat is caught in throats of starlings eager to pluck me free. #vss365
I love the textures and play on words. ✨
everybody needs the thing that lights you inside out.
a break in the cloud summer slips from the shadows comes in for a kiss #vss365 #haiku Picture: Taken by me.
It is no surprise that the ocean consumes your midnights for she dreams of you, too
I pencil sketch her maple leafs, sing her the song she taught me when I was a child & she was a seedling; a lifetime of daydreaming against her trunk; but today my hair is sticky with sap as she weeps, tucking memories of me underleaf, sensing my life’s roots are wilting. #vss365
I hunger for thunderstorms and warm pavement,a respite from the timebox that ransoms my dreams, to be awarded full custody of my cells, carve my name in carbon and stimulate stars clustering under my skin, and if I’m lucky, fill my soul’s reservoir with a life well lived. #vss365
Ants crawl over my frigid skin on their way to daffodils bathing in Saturday sunlight, a pair of my lover’s rubber boots and shovel near my cheek; a gentle breeze wakes wind chimes on the quaint porch; I stare unblinking at a bluebird in the birdbath singing me to sleep. #vss365
