Scientists have observed an orangutan treating a wound on its face with a medicinal plant, a world's first. I spoke to Dr Isabelle Laumer, a cognitive biologist at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behaviour on the research.
An orangutan was seen applying medicinal plant to its wound, marking the first record of such a phenomenon by any wild animal.
