A 28yo woman died of post-covid myocarditis today. She was asymptomatic and treated at home and then developed complications after being declared negative. Let that sink in.
The decision aids are not meant to be used for no-brainers. Positive TN = don't use the aid! if + STEMI = don't use the aid! Decision aids never trump common sense!! Same for PERC, same for Wells, same for HEART, same for all decision aids. That's why you train, read, & learn!
Ok so we all learned to use decision aids as designed & not alter them to our needs (EMRap this month on Canadian syncope). But who, I ask you, who is taking a + Troponin chest pain patient and calculating a HEART score?!? Nah son, that's an NSTEMI. Admit. @EMSwami @amalmattu
