It also raises the issue of where to draw the line of purely machine or machine and human. If a human chooses the music to train the AI, is the outcome purely machine generated? That's apparently not the case for algorithmic composition software.
I am actually going on stage to play music for the first time in a month and its live coding Give me Sonic Pi or give me death! The Sonic Pi engine drives an embedded Supercollider sound engine so its all good...

Safe to say you also enjoy live coding music? Such as Supercollider, Overtone, Sonic pi, tidal etc?
I'd say: all and none of the above, a spectrum. Depends on one's definition of composition. I think that generative music still counts as being compositional, wherein the composer simply creates a set of conditions (a la Cage).
@mattsmear maybe your piano scroller can get incorporated as an option here! (I’m sure there’s a Python midi library…)
