As I often say, I love living in a city in which the house stock is distinct enough that when you see a random picture you can say “Oh, that’s my city.”

Today, I signed a package of bills to make housing in Baltimore more abundant and affordable. These bills will help folks buy a home and grow wealth, counter decades of disinvestment, and make sure both long-time and new residents feel the benefits of Baltimore's Renaissance.

The biggest reason the rich get richer (besides compounding) is they avoid things that don't make enough money. The more money you have, the more selective you are about which things are worth doing because fewer things move the needle for you. If you make decisions like you…

Built 2017-2018, this is a good infill development in Charlottesville, Virginia, the design somewhere between a Federal townhome and industrial chic. I assume market forces pushed towards them being detached rather than rowhouses.

Pennsylvania is low key the king of American urbanism. It's like a time capsule, you've got hundreds of little towns and dozens of midsized cities where normal middle class people are still living in townhouses, shopping at corner shops, and walking for a daily errands.

I love Pennsylvania because you'll find random towns in the middle of nowhere that are more dense and walkable than every sunbelt city

The trains between London and Edinburgh make Amtrak (and even Brightline) look like you're hitching a ride on a freight train. No at grade rail crossings. 150mph+. No breakdowns or delays. Massive ridership. Why is this so hard for America?

the whole work life balance advice assumes work is just a means to an end. but if you've found something that consumes you, that you genuinely love, then why force separation? true obsession is one of the most beautiful things in this world

the people who do the most interesting things usually have no off switch between work and life. it’s all just one big, immersive experience. not everyone gets that, but if you do, hold onto it and don’t let anyone guilt you into shutting off

do not let your job become your entire personality. have a hobby. have a side gig. have a life outside work. have friends who don’t care about your title. have interests that make you curious. have goals beyond your paycheck.

I went to Glen Burnie yesterday and took the Patapsco Ave to Pennington Ave way thru Curtis Bay. You talk about roads undriveable... JFC. Again, Baltimore City is never ever Ever going to repave their streets or roads. Unless it's something like a Boston Street in Canton thing.

I'm not an MBA hater but an MBA directly from undergrad should be valued at less than zero because the person getting it doesn't understand the degree they got. MBAs should be gotten after at least 5 yoe in industry.

The whole "I am going to buy my next house and keep my current house as a rental" sentiment is very overrated in my eyes I hardly know a single person this has worked out for long-term Not because the idea is "bad" per se, but because: - You end up spending much more on house…

Baltimore City and Baltimore County

Can you think of any two cities that border each other that absolutely should merge or annex one another?
