Severe T-Storm Warning for southern Madison Co on into Henderson Co.


Aftershocks can occur in the first hours, days weeks, or even months after the quake.


Be prepared for AFTERSHOCKS, and plan where you will take cover when they occur.


After an Earthquake: Check for injuries to your family and your surrounding neighbors.


If you are in a THEATER or STADIUM during an earthquake, stay in your sead and protect your head with your arms.


If you are DRIVING during an EQ, pull over to the side of the road and stop. Avoid overpasses, power lines, and other hazards.


If you're OUTDOORS during an EQ, move to a clear area, away from trees, signs, buildings, or downed electrical wires and poles.


When an EQ strikes: DROP down to the floor. / Take COVER under a sturdy piece of furniture.


Keep a flashlight and a pattery-powered or hand-crank AM/FM radio ready for use at all times. Keep fresh batteries on hand.


Teach responsible members of your family how to turn off electricity, gas and water at the main switches and valves.


Create a family communications plan and make sure everybody knows what to do.


Hold occasional earthquake drills to provide help and avoid injury and panic during an earthquake.


Before an Earthquake: Check your home for EQ hazards and create a plan to secure items that may be vulnerable to shaking.


Place large or heavy objects on the lower shelves and fasten she...lves to walls. Keep a 7 - 10 day supply of food and water.
