I've been watching the ceremony opening a portion of the Ring Road in Calgary, and an Indigenous man just wrapped up a speech about how this is a bad day, and the road was built on his family's stolen land. He finished by cutting off his braids and tossing them on the road. #yyc

One of my favorite aspects of #articling is the feedback I receive to sharpen my work products and skills. However, it does draw scathing attention to the lack of opportunity in law school for meaningful assessments in light of the 100% final exams.

Today is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay. It's a great opportunity for the legal profession as a whole to reflect on the kind of behaviors they have allowed (or have partaken in) that exacerbate or create hardships for neurodivergent people.
When #DaisyColeman came forward about her sexual assault - people bullied her or engaged in victim-blaming. Someone burned down her house; this is why women are fearful. Rest in Power Daisy, to know your story is to know true human spirit.
I can’t shake Daisy Coleman’s death today. There needs to be a different word than “suicide” to describe what happened to her and so many other survivors of assaults.
