The World Rally Championship is set to return to the United States after a long hiatus – as early as next year.
Formula 1 needs a promoter.
Perfect sense to appeal to the performance car marques for a performance sport. However, those bosses don't really like alternatives to tarmac in the sun near the airport.
It would be difficult to disagree with much of what Dimi says here, although I wouldn't believe Toyota continue in any 'Rally2' championship. Would a 'Rally2 WRC' be commercially sustainable? What does the calendar look like?

I wisely only put secondary-grade content onto Substack, a platform that told me I retained copyright; I am very disappointed that the money, hours and effort spent in researching a topic can be given away for free to who-knows to be able to undermine authors with their own work.

Is it not an agreement that there will be a minimum of 9 cars for the rally? I think this for now. There are probably not enough Rally1 cars built to meet the logistics needs, or justification to build them.
