My struggle to learn React
I'm going to be honest: I've had a hell of a time getting my head around React. More than any other technology I've touched over the last 10 years of my career, I just haven't had it click for me....
One of the things that I have loved about JS is it’s low bar for entry. It doesn’t take a lot to start programming in JS. It doesn’t take a person like me who took the white book home one night and started programming in C the next day. Complexity is not necessarily a good thing.
Very heartfelt and relatable. Many of our students go through the same process. It will be an interesting read for them.
I'm gonna say some unpopular experience here: learned web development in 2015 when react started becoming mature (0.13) and right before the redux takeover. The web stack was so scary to me (CS background, a bit of mobile dev experience at the time), yes I'm looking at you css...
