I have requested a special ANC 5F meeting for September 2 at 6pm ET to consider a resolution condemning the ongoing federal overreach. There is a narrative out there that DC residents support it that Congress should let it extend past September 10. We must counter!
Scheduled water outage for tomorrow morning 5/31 in Eckington has been canceled. I’m waiting on the full list of blocks affected from @dcwater but would love your help in getting the word out to neighbors!
ANC 5F has asked for this multiple times and awaits DDOT response to our most recent resolution on it: drive.google.com/file/d/1KSW9l-…
The car on the MBT this evening was an MPD officer on official business. I still don't buy that it's safe but it was deliberate and lawful. This time. Still need hardened bollards or planters at MBT entrances at R, Randolph, S, and T streets NE, @DDOTDC @311DCgov !
Some more photos of people struggling across the Bryant St bridge that remains unplowed as of this morning. It's a key link for thousands to reach RI Ave Metro station. This happened last year and @DCDPW it would not be forgotten next time.... Help @MayorBowser !
It's this bridge if you can append this map to the request
There is an active water outage in Eckington caused by a water leak on the 1900 block of 2nd St NE. @dcwater would it be possible to get an update on when this will be fixed? Crew on site is saying it will last another 8 hours.
We (@ANC5F ) are actively re-escalating this ongoing issue to DDOT. It's only a matter of time before something worse happens.
ANC 5F Library Task Force is working to gather community input on the proposed Eckington/Edgewood Library. They next meet 8pm tonight (Tuesday) by Zoom, login details are near the bottom of this page anc5f.com/committees Join!
Thank you to all our @ANC5F Commissioners for dedicating so much of their time on a weekend for this special meeting! Excited to get the details up on our website in the next couple of days.
We just wrapped up a ~2 hour long @ANC5F meeting where we deep dove on our grants program, and have emerged with an agreement on something for FY 2025 (October). I'm excited that this is starting up soon. Kudos to @JenForANC for getting this moving!
We will be holding a special meeting at 1pm on August 17th to discuss and vote on procedures for a grants program. It will be online only (via Zoom). More details available on our website: anc5f.com/meetings

The Mayor has invited all ANC commissioners to a public safety meeting on Saturday, March 2. I plan on attending.
Coming soon: stoplight at Rhode Island and 3rd
What’s going on at Rhode Island and Third?! @joe5f6 A stop light 🚦 or pedestrian signal?! 😀
Thank you for your leadership and getting @ANC5F off to a great start in our first year.
Congratulations to Commissioner Jennifer Anderson @JenForANC for being elected Chair of @ANC5F and to the other officers! Vice Chair: Patricia Williams Secretary: Mark Galvan Treasurer: Tony Hurst
Commissioner Sahni @Aru5F02 and I on the now the Rhode Island Avenue metro bridge, ramps, and steps now cleared of ice and snow. We share what it took to get agencies to remember this bridge and the MBT exist and need to be part of pretreatment and post-snow clearing plans.
No Red Line service this weekend, between NoMa-Gallaudet and Brookland Stations; Rhode Island Ave/Brentwood Station will be closed. Metro is installing radio and fiber-optic cables. Free shuttle service will be provided. wmata.com/about/news/Wee…
DC has major food access and affordability issues for entire sections of the city, our seniors, and the poor. The fight to increase SNAP benefits is not merely a financial decision but a moral one. We must stop making budgetary decisions on the backs of our vulnerable residents.
#BREAKING it appears the @councilofdc is now looking to take @MayorBowser to court for withholding a SNAP benefit increase. Told @ChmnMendelson circulated an emergency resolution this AM that would allow the council’s general council to do such, planning to take up next Tues
