Rest in peace Jimmy Carter. The world needs more people like you.

The world needs more people like you.

It was and remains on brand for GOP.

Jimmy Carter is dead, and the U.S. has never reckoned with the "October Surprise" scandal — the fact that the 1980 Reagan campaign colluded with the Iranian government to make sure the American hostages weren't released before the election. This was genuine treason by the GOP.

They write laws. That is literally their job description. They don't have the authority to enforce them, especially with fellow politicians who have demonstrated their disinterest in following said laws. If people who elected them don't object, politicians will break laws.

Looks like you missed the part where she DID do something. Where she did what is within her power TO do: wrote laws. Last I checked, senators weren't part of law enforcement.

The trend of politicians reporting things to us like they’re journalists and not politicians with power to do anything about it needs to end. I mean Joe Biden is president right now, go talk to your boss and ask him what he plans on doing about it. You’re a senator, do something!

I bet you're right. The bot accounts are out of control on this app. 🤬

i feel like this stupid ass account is harassing me from different accounts

The notion that “politics” is some compartmentalized subject you can dredge up at cocktail parties, and then go back to your regular life as if elections — and the people who vote in them — don’t have consequences, is baffling to me. Half of us live in Severance.

And now we need to do the rest of the country! 💓

BREAKING: Not only is abortion still fully legal in Colorado, but the right to an abortion was just voted into the state constitution. That’s not all — abortion care can now be covered by state health insurance, expanding access for Coloradans! Huge victory for repro freedom!🏔

It’s also time to retire “all politics is local” and “the president doesn’t impact my life” because they’re catchy but untrue statements. When the federal government works well, you don’t even realize it in your life. People are about to see tho.

Something MDers need to do: Hold Annapolis’ feet to the fire about mass transit funding, housing reform, restorative justice, and climate action. Many who said “vote for the easiest opponent” in regards to nat’l Dems, have never written a delegate abt anything. Change that, too.

Strangely, it's moments like this that I feel most lucky to be queer. I think about our elders. How hopeless they must have felt. How easy it would have been to give up. But they fought for the life I get to live today. What an insult it would be, to them, to succumb to despair

There are a lot of lessons to learn: - you have to win to wield power - you can’t “teach your side a lesson” by helping them lose - other minority groups want to be white & will vote alongside white interests even when it hurts them - black people consistently vote pragmatically

And MORE of MY loved ones are sure to die, too. I'm fighting. For them.

people who say "well trump was president in 2016 you'll live 🤓" do not realize tens of thousands of people died because he downplayed a pandemic and women today are dying because of the 3 supreme court justices he appointed

Do NOT donate money to any of these politicians. Over the next 4 years, there will be organizations and communities that need your funds and your time if you’re able to volunteer. They’ve got billionaire and millionaire backers, your neighbors don’t. Build on the ground.

And many will not survive him again. Hold your loved ones close and get ready to fight to protect them. They have already said they are coming for every single person I love. I believe them. There can be no unity in a country that will eat its own.

please keep the “we survived him once, we will do it again” tweets in the drafts or better yet delete them. millions of people did not in fact survive him, and millions more will not survive him again.

While many are talking about losing hope or moving to other countries, Native people have survived under U.S. government leaders that wanted us dead since the very beginning. This is still Native land, and will always be Native land. We never had the luxury to stop fighting.
