95% of the film people I started out with are now unemployed/furloughed/changing careers. And we’re 40. I can’t imagine telling a young person to dive in.

The way Google has become so useless that I need to add “Reddit” to the end of all my searches to actually get the information I’m looking for needs to be studied
Like is the endgame for us to all die? Like they want AI to take our jobs and they don’t want to build affordable housing and they certainly don’t want to give us healthcare. Not to pull an Osborne but who’s going to serve them when we’re all dead, have they thought about that
🧵My best friend (Black woman) & I were pregnant at the same time 18 yrs ago. We both had preeclampsia, hers undiagnosed as her symptoms were written off. I was put on bed rest & hospitalized. She was told to relax. A week after she gave birth, the day my son was born, she died.
Wow. I'm employed in a writers' room for the first time in almost a YEAR. Still crazy to me that we have to go without work for massive chunks of time & yet we still come back for more. The cycle feels broken. BUT. I'm SO grateful (with unemployment PTSD lingering for next time)!
Thank you to all of the WGA and guild friends who sacrificed so much this year for the sake of our futures. It’s been a tough summer but we made it through. I am in shock and overjoyed and emotional and hope we all sleep a little easier tonight 🫶🏻
To our members: The WGA and AMPTP met for bargaining on Friday and will meet again on Saturday. Thank you for the wonderful show of support on the picket lines today! It means so much to us as we continue to work toward a deal that writers deserve. #WGAStrike
screenwriters telling each other to "keep expectations in check" is hilarious because in order to pursue this career you simply must be delusional
My almost 32-year-old husband is scream-singing along to Michelle Branch in the shower right now and suddenly I’m reminded why I married him 🥲
Studios will accept a random, original idea from AI, but when a human wants to write something original they have to prove it's the most personal story of their life for the studio to believe they should be the one to tell it. A good idea that we're passionate about isn't enough.
You should always be skeptical when corporations try to negotiate in the press.

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which bargains on behalf of Hollywood companies with labor groups, released a six-page memo laying out the offer on Tuesday night.
Been debating sharing this but here we go. Yesterday I invited 5 strangers to my house. (A THREAD)
I had a nine hour drive today that I spent on the phone with industry people convinced we're going to be striking through January, only to come home to this news. Moral? No one knows anything.
Please make sure everyone you know knows that the AMPTP refuses to come to the table to talk to the @WGAWest. The strike continues indefinitely because they are determined to hurt innocent people who want to work and writers who just want a fair deal.
I keep thinking that if Buffy came out today, in this TV climate, it would’ve been cancelled after Season 1.
Striking with SAG today was one of the most unifying experiences I’ve felt in the industry in a long time. I’m thankful for that energy, it’s what will carry us through.
