Imagine hiring UX/UI Designers who neva heard of MUSCUL MEMORY to make unnecessary changes to software, because who the fuck knows why. The same designers presented you the idea of "floating" panels so u can have more space on your screen.
Doest visual aspect of the games matter? Yes. Do you need all of the components to test how fun your game could be? No. For example, I like the early greyboxing of the TF2 Beacon mission. It's just a blockout, but you already know how fun it will be for players to go thru it.
This is one of the biggest lies in gamedev. You need almost all the components of the game to properly understand how entertaining a game is. It’s extremely hard to evaluate a game just based on greyboxing
A little over a year ago Danny O'Dwyer @noclipvideo visited Tallinn and we spoke a little about the making of Disco Elysium. He's put together a kind of time machine (in five parts) to let you visit that time and place. youtu.be/eH6mUTHZ5C4

Is AI needed in gaming? Bruce Straley (Co-Director of TLOU) gives his thoughts.
The single-player FPS genre is practically dead. If you take a look at this category on Steam, you'll see that most of the games are either multiplayer FPS (COD, BF, etc.) or indie boomer-shooters. It's not just about the number of games, it's also about certain genres.
There are too many studios making too many games for too few consumers that have too little time. It's 'survival of the fittest' at its very essence. N64 had fewer than 400 games. PS2 got into the several thousand. 18,000 games have been published on Steam in 2025. It's math.
Well, its because they worked on a cool immersive-sim before - The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
One of the reasons Indiana Jones & the Great Circle resonates with the people that played it It’s not a typical Action Adventure, MachineGames could have played it safe, made a typical 3rd person game like but they didn’t Its fresh &has immersive sim elements From XboxSeriesX
So, what if at the end of @thegameawards G-Man will appear on the screen and ... Half-Life 3.
While people are waiting for Half-Life 3 announcement (copium) they should try Industria - a very cool immersive-sim made by a small team (and inspired by Half-life) with interesting premise.
90s had a very interesting lighting techniques.
The x files had very interesting lighting techniques ✨
Just found a very cool indie game called - Earworm. Cyberpunk genre made by a solo guy, Neuromancer vibes all over it + soundtrack from 90s. store.steampowered.com/app/2765340/Ea…

Video game Pet Peeve. First Person Shooter Devs, please, Stop doing this.
While first bullet-hell roguelike (aimless shooter) was released in 1985 (Gauntlet). Casino-like rng games became very popular and addictive on mobile phones first, not on PC. The thing is, mobile patterns are gradually taking over the PC market, and there's not much we can do.
Been thinking about this quite a bit over the last few months yeah. Specifically because I think it'll swing back in the other direction at some point and a large group of people will be craving more fantasy/immersion-driven experiences. I'm just not sure when.
