So glad I got to work with @mvembye and @TerriPigott on this paper. See Mikkel’s thread for the main highlights. I’ll add a few more theoretically-oriented take-aways here. 1/

Power Approximations for Overall Average Effects in Meta-Analysis With Dependent Effect Sizes -...
Meta-analytic models for dependent effect sizes have grown increasingly sophisticated over the last few decades, which has created challenges for a priori power...
Sometimes, when fitting a model with rma.mv(), the optimizer doesn't converge. I wrote up a little discussion of this to illustrate this issue and to describe some remedies: metafor-project.org/doku.php/tips:… Gratuitous likelihood surface plot included.
Dear Assistant Professors: How are y’all getting everything done that you are expected to complete within a 5-day work week? Because I’ve honestly been working 7 days a week for as long as I can remember, and I still can’t get everything done. And I’m about to ~lose~ it.
So thankful for this table in Bollens SEM book. I was out here, reading the literature, calling eta “fancy n” and xi “mr squiggles”
If you are doing work on research synthesis / meta-analysis and the use of R and related tech for its application, you should consider submitting an abstract to the Evidence Synthesis and Meta-Analysis in R Conference: esmarconf.github.io #ESMARConf #metaanalysis #RStats

As @wviechtb notes in the thread, this is basically a parametric generalization of Trim-and-Fill. IMO, it's an underappreciated point that helps to explain why T&F doesn't actually do much (especially if selective reporting is related to p-values/statistical significance).
I heard you all scream: "WE NEED MORE SELECTION MODELS FOR META-ANALYSIS!" Your wish is my command! So I added another one to selmodel() in the metafor package. wviechtb.github.io/metafor/refere…

Just gave my #SRSM2022 presentation on working models in meta-analysis of dependent effect sizes. Meta-analysis as weighing the day's catch at the fish market. Here's my slides: jepusto.com/files/SRSM-202…
We spent half a class period at the beginning of the semester on understanding t-tests/ANOVA/etc. as linear regressions (using this great resource lindeloev.github.io/tests-as-linea…)
I am excited to share that our paper @jepusto is published online: Multilevel meta-analysis of single-case experimental designs using robust variance estimation. Link here: psycnet.apa.org/record/2022-78…
