Day 16/#100DaysOfCode During the job searching, found out that some workplaces like a Wagile environment. The term tickled me, but.. potentially a more accurate description of the way many products are made? How many workplaces are *truly* agile? I'd love to know #wagile
Day 15/#100DaysOfCode Found out I've been shortlisted for a group assessment for a new role next week. Great news! Tricky balancing learning, job searching & working but I'm managing to fit it in. Revisited RegEx today as it was starting to fade.
Morning! โ๐ Just going to leave this here...... Please #RT and share with your buddies! Surely I'll find the right person on here with the help of you lovely lot! ๐ #Jobs #SysOps #web #UK #AWS #LAMP
Day 14/#100DaysOfCode Found out I didn't get the job. But I am v grateful the company took the time to phone me with really thorough and encouraging feedback. 114 out of 120 @theSchoolOfCode students applied for this role. Even getting to the interview was a win ๐ช!
Day 13/#100DaysOfCode Decided to revisit vanilla JavaScript to build a little counter for my database fixes. Solved a workplace problem and got my coding practice in at the same time. And now I get a small burst of joy with each fix. Document.queryWhat?! I was very rusty!
Day 12/#100DaysOfCode I am doing some temp work for an educational institution, using a noSQL database to fix errors in records . They asked me to keep track of my fixes (the software has no ability to do this!) Decided to make something fun to do this..
Day 11/#100DaysOfCode Had a great first ever tech interview. Is it weird to say I really enjoyed the process? Great conversations about the team and the role, incl. when do you actually feel like a developer?! The tech test was not my strongest part, I have to say!
Day 10/#100DaysOfCode Skipping a few days here and there as I'm caught in the trap of taking on temp work full-time while I'm looking for my first tech role. Common story! Looking forward to finding the right balance.
Lots of events happening this week, both in person and virtual ๐ป Monday Learn about Product, Design, and Research at the @FT (virtual) codebar.io/events/productโฆ 18:00 BST (GMT+1) Tuesday @CodebarBrighton (in person at @unity ) codebar.io/workshops/2721 18:30 BST (GMT+1)
So this is what the X is about.
This is the last day for Twitter. A new app will take its place: X - The Everything App. Here's 10 features that are coming for The Everything App (X):
Day 9/#100daysofcode How it ended! Spent a bit more time completing the exercise. Enjoyed getting my head around linked lists and thinking through the spiral of moving parts! Inception vibes.
Day 8/#100daysofcode I didn't have much time today, but started a tech test for an interview this week. How it started!
Day7/#100daysofcode Interview prep aplenty! Taught myself about linked lists - a data structure I have not come across before. Currently playing around with while loops. A little frustrating at first but fun once I got my head around the syntax and where to take in values.
Day 6/#100daysofcode The truth! Spent a few hours on @bobziroll's brilliant @scrimba React course, to really get my head around things. By far the best resource I've come across to push you to write code and get better.
I always tell my students that the easiest way to learn to code is to do it the hard way - actually writing code, struggling with it, and fixing it, over and over and over. No one ever learned to be a capable pianist by watching people play piano on YouTube
Day 5/#100daysofcode Found out that I have an interview next week! Amazing news and much trepidation. Planning out my prep for the take home task and interview (questions + pair programming) has helped me to stay focused! What's your best interview tip, esp for pair programming?
Day 4/#100daysofcode Regular expressions! I've been putting this off for a while but it was time to get to grips with it. Spent 1.5 hours completing the Free Code Camp tutorial on RegEx, then finally got this level seven @codewars challenge out of my hair!
Day 3/#100daysofcode Stretch goals include: ๐ป More data queries - e.g. filter results by question to ID curriculum weak spots ๐ป Additional subjects - for now it will be just bio ๐ป Responsiveness -add tablet and desktop Teacher friends, any advice welcome!
Day 3/#100daysofcode 30 mins Codewars, 30 mins exploring @exercism_io - still working out the format! Discussed stretch goals for my React app for the education sector, with my partner who is an A-Level curriculum lead.
Day 2/#100daysofcode Started planning my full-stack React app personal project. A diagnostic tool for teachers. MVP features: ๐ป Quiz format with 4 options per Q ๐ป Results stored in backend ๐ป Display results for individual / whole class ๐ป Teachers upload questions & pics
