My view on “Able to work” If someone works, but has no quality of life, or isn’t able to have any life outside of work because work takes all their energy/capacity that they may have left over after managing their condition(s)… They are not able to work.

True, money doesn’t bring you happiness, but it does bring you freedom. I can’t tell you how many disabled people I know that are stuck with people who they don’t like or are abused by but can’t leave because of money. Money is the ability to make choices.
I have a cousin in the north bay who married a cop who makes $240,000/yr with overtime. Imagine how much we could invest in public housing and mental health programs instead of paying pigs to harass the unhoused.

Psych wards certainly do nothing to alleviate suicidality but produce a terror of going back there. You just learn you can't afford to be unsuccessful in your attempts. They are not a therapeutic place to recover from suicide attempts, they just prolong the trauma.
