North Gare Sands WeBS 606 Golden P, 19 Ringed P, 120 Dunlin, 71 Redshank, 207 Oystercatcher, 5 Bar-tailed G, 2 Curlew, 26 Grey P, 8 Turnstone, 5 Sanderling, 9 Teal, 2 Knot, 1 Eider, 2 Shag plus gulls. Waders looked amazing 😍#needmorefingersandtoesforcounting😀 @teesbirds1


Busy BTO to day Winter Bird Survey at Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park recorded 35 species inc Cettis, Great White Egret, Fieldfare, Redwing. Afternoon was WeBS -Seaton Sands had 4 Red-throated Diver, 1 Shag, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit, 1 Redshank, 4 Cormorant & 20 Herring Gull. @teesbirds1


Spoonbill on Greatham Creek, Greenshank on Tidal Pool and 55 Barnacle Geese on Seal Sands at 11:30 this morning @teesbirds1


2 dark phase Arctic Skua off North Gare @ 10:10. Large numbers of young Razorbills and Guillemots cruise past just outside Webs area. Summer plumage Sandlering & Turnstone on North Gare beach @teesbirds1


300-400 Common Scoter on sea just off Seaton Carew. Just outside my WeBS closer to Newburn. @teesbirds1


WeBS today at North Gare Sands- Bar-Tailed G 48, Dunlin 100, Oystercatcher 398, Knot 38, Redshank 27 & Ringed Plover 40. Swallows, House Martins and Sand Martins seen and 6 Little Tern dropped in. Best Bar-tailed count for sometime. @teesbirds1 @nybirdnews


How does the weather know it is WeBS. Sunshine yesterday fog today. Visibility 20 m. Seaton Carew and Hartlepool are out there somewhere 🙄. 2 oystercatchers spotted. Something tells me numbers are going to be low. @teesbirds1

Foggy Seaton Sands WeBS with only 5 species recorded. Pleasing that two were waders with Oystercatcher and Turnstone. Waders are a rarity in this high disturbance sector. Seaton Carew & Hartlepool are beyond the murk in the photo @teesbirds1

North Gare Sands WeBS improved with a bit of sunshine. 15 species recorded but numbers were low as the tide was <5m. Dunlin 299, Grey P 40, Oysterc 24, Knot 41, Barwit 9, GN Diver 1, Shag 3, Purple Sand 2 & GC Grebe 6. @teesbirds1 @nybirdnews

At least 11 BN Dolphins now feeding Hartlepool Bay side of North Gare. Heading towards Hartlepool breaching high out of the water as they go. Now I had getter count the birds for WeBs 😀@teesbirds1 @teeswildlife @TeesmouthNNR @TeesmouthField

Local walk in Oxbridge Cemetery, Stockton-on-Tees this morning yielded a colour ringed Black-headed Gull (J80N) which has only been previously recorded in Norway and within 10 km of the ringing area. Now it is 931 km from home. @teesbirds1 @teeswildlife
