Note to self: You call it the Dream Job for a reason. Take a deep breath, remember all the good parts, and don't forget to be awesome.

Perimeter Challenge: Use the square cards to make a perimeter of 16. One group found this mysterious occurrance --they kept adding cards but the perimeter didn't change! Can you explain the mystery as well as a different student did?

The school nurses just sent an email referring exclusively to "menstrual supplies" and at no point using gendered language, and this was _such_ a sticking point last year and I am absolutely fucking thrilled that I don't get microaggressed at 8:45 in the morning today!

Random student was looking for my coworker (who'd had to run home) and I just spent 20min helping a stranger navigate deltamath and composition of functions HUZZAH FOR STUDENTS WHO COME FOR EXTRA HELP! *heart eyes*

Pro: I have really awesome colleagues who I can talk about all sorts of cool pedagogical things with! Con: Wait, did I just spend my entire prep in that other teacher's room....

Happiness is a student, affronted, pointing out that his page says b - 22 = 41 and another student's page says b - 24 = 41. Why yes, thank you for noticing, please do not copy off your friend's paper you will just have the wrong answer.

I wonder if this 90 minute scheduled zoom call from the district is aware of the fact that the district no longer pays for zoom accounts so we have a maximum of 40 minutes...

I love this thread, especially the contrast between educator and cop, and want to try and bring it forward with me this year!

Taught an EL student how to pronounce "anxiety" and wow does that just feel like an extremely 2022 moment

I like language learners because it makes me think about language and what words are more/less important. "Mx -I can draw a painting on the board?" asked a student wanting to use a whiteboard marker on the back board and I love the understandability!

I feel like I should design some sort of bonus prize for myself every time I encounter the phrase "his or her" in the wild during PDs and other admin stuff. The WIDA training module is just _chock_ full of it!

Eyyyy it's a new record today! An average of 12.67 students absent per class! Maybe tomorrow we can hit 13!!! (this is awful, send help)

Thinking about student learning styles and my brain came up with "I definitely prefer needy and right to arrogant and wrong" which isn't one hundred percent true, but it's an interesting outlook on what I'd like to help students with in their work and attitudes

Out of the blue today, one of my students asked me "what do you call a cow in an earthquake" in the zoom private chat, and I had to really suppress my giggling on camera when he told me "a milk shake". My job is _so much_ right now, but 100% I'm doing it for the kids
