5/6 Despite respondents at the majority of sites saying local people โmostly fearโ ๐จ elephants, a majority are understood to be โmoderately-โ to โhighly-tolerantโ of them, with spiritual beliefs/customs ๐ positively impacting tolerance. #DICECON21 #HUMWILD #Asianelephants
4/6 In initial results, a majority of respondents reported that locals had directly attacked elephants, causing injury or deathโ ๏ธ. Results from a sentiment qu (below) suggest this would likely result in increased aggression from elephants ๐ ๐ #DICECON21 #HUMWILD #HEC #HWC #HEI

๐ Elephants are โumbrellaโ โ๏ธ and โkeystoneโ ๐๏ธ species, whose movements are critical for other species within their biome (e.g., uprooting trees, meaning smaller animals can reach the top leaves!). They bolster biodiversity, a key indicator of ecosystem health. ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐๐ณ๐ผ
