Today I was honoured to attend Remembrance Day Services in Milverton and Clifford. Thank you to all who attended to pay tribute to those who served. In addition, Keith Mitchell represented me at today’s services in @townofstmarys & Rannoch. Vince Judge represented me in Atwood.

Today marks the 80th Anniversary of the Dieppe Raid. 907 Canadians died; 2460 were wounded; 1946 were taken as prisoners of war. Among those who died were Cyril Hodson of Stratford, Morris Vick of Listowel, and Clarence East of Stratford. Today, and always, we will remember them.

Video from today’s Heritage committee hearing on Bill C-11. Conservatives have been trying to delay deadline to submit amendments in hope of more witnesses. @pablorodriguez came to committee. Conservatives offered to stop procedural debate to hear him. Liberal MPs voted against.

April 9th is Vimy Ridge Day. The day commemorates the anniversary of the start of the battle that many consider to be the birth of our nation. The battle saw more than 3,500 deaths, including Private Newton Heard of Blanshard Twp. By battle's end, Canada had secured the ridge.

Simon Edgar Dickert was an inspiration to the community of Mount Forest and beyond. Despite battling brain cancer for four years, he always had a smile. May his memory be an inspiration to all of us for a day when kids can be kids and childhood cancer is no more.

On November 11 we pause to remember those who served, those who continue to serve, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 2021 marks 105 years since the Battle of the Somme. Among the 24,000 Canadians who died in that battle was 2nd Lt Ernest Gilmer of Atwood. Lest we forget
