Big business. Small business. One person business... it doesn't matter. What matters is the health. Is the business healthy? A healthy business doesn't need gimmicks to grow. It grows on its own. Plant the seeds. Water the soil. That's your job. Growth takes care of itself.
Don’t use your business to fill a cup it can’t fill. Part of the freedom you’re after may not be entrepreneurial freedom. Yet here’s the thing. Once you find TRUE freedom, you become better equipped to grow your own thing.
The goal is not the point. The goal is the propellant. It’s what gets you moving, and keeps you moving. Everything that happens in pursuit of that goal… that’s the true gift. The pursuit is point. That’s the fun.
Do you love it enough to care deeply about the details? Do you get joy out of the process? Or are you rushing through the work, seeing it as a means to an end? That’s your answer to whether you should do it or not.
Sometimes fast isn’t fast. Sometimes fast is rushed. Sometimes rushed things break. Sometimes broken things slow us down. Therefore… Sometimes fast is slow. Which also means… Sometimes slow is fast.
Immerse urself in the creative process by focusing on ur client and how to serve them best—leaving no space to stalk social, err “get inspiration”—and you’ll realize how foolish the, “but how am I different??” concern is. When you follow the (right) process, it unfolds w/ ease.
People aren't watching as close as you think they are. You have space to test and fail. Most won't notice, and you'll be better for trying. Plus, shit... what if it works? Do the thing.
Be careful fantasizing about your goals. Fantasizing tickles the pleasure centers of your brain, more than actually pursuing the goal. Skip the good feels of fantasy. Go heads down. Do the work.
A good way to learn is to consume. A better way to learn is to consume and create. The best way to learn is to consume, create and collaborate.
