Yes! My experience, it’s generally a poor laying out of assumptions & parameters. They should probably take a Physics course to develop an awareness of their bias.

Why are value and macro investors so comfortable making highly confident prognostications about AI despite their manifest ignorance? I don't recall many tech/growth investors penning long, bearish, highly confident and utterly ignorant analyses about energy in 2022/2023.

Until the wealthy essentially become Mr. Potter from Its a Wonderful Life. Deflation here we come!

1. Trump is more popular with young people than old people. Most young people don’t own stocks or homes (aka they are asset-light). 2. Trump is also more popular amongst working and middle class folks. Most of these folks are also asset-light. It stands to reason that a fall…

I talked to a few ex-McKinsey folks after our response with @KentBeck on McKinsey’s software dev claims got traction. An open secret in these groups: Customers often pay $$$ to McKinsey so McKinsey “formalizes” what they already want to do, but now they can point to McKinsey.

He’s not wrong, oracle database way more capable than blockchain.

I like distributed ledgers with tens of thousands of copies (which I can also save) more-so than one big copy. Call me crazy. 🤷‍♀️ Accounting details seem small, but double-entry bookkeeping was a big deal 700 years ago. Now there is triple entry bookkeeping.

These are people, with livelihoods, not pieces on a board. Not sure how much CSPAN you watch, but most hearings are a spectacle, “twisted by knaves, to make a trap for fools.” The university system is a product of a key fund source - the government. Why not ridicule politicians?

This is an excellent summary of the serious legal and fiduciary implications to @Penn, @Harvard and @MIT of their presidents’ failed leadership, and why Gay’s and Kornbluth’s continued employment creates substantial additional risk for Harvard and MIT. In sum, by continuing to…

See, there’s a time and place where we all revert to Karenness.

I am so livid I cannot even believe they think I would let this slide. You sold this seat online as a fully reclining bed with a television with media access and chargers— something that made sense for a 2 year old and a 10 month. Again this was a 10 hour, overseas flight. None…

Excellent thread. So very applicable to investing, particularly for highly experienced, seen it all, portfolio managers.

Thread: American Civil War and the Tragedy of Missed Lessons There was an even 100 years between the downfall of Napoleon in 1814 and the beginning of World War One in 1914. The American Civil War was the largest conflict fought in that intervening century. (1)

Question for my esteemed friends and followers: What is your most outrageous prediction for 2022? Can be related to finance, politics, sports, macro,... Looking forward to your ideas and thoughts! 🙏🙏

Interesting, seems his mind, it is a changing. Cool.

FOOLED BY DISINFORMATION, 1 It is not because Monsanto is an evil firm gaming the system that another (Moderna, Pfizer) responding to an emergency w/vaccines will NECESSARILY be one. Just as: it is not because Madoff was a Ponzi schemer that Warren Buffet must be one.

This will age nicely.

Misinformation is killing people. Primum non nocere.

Pretty remarkable how defiantly wrong you’ve been on all this. Literally quibbling over statistical tick turds to obfuscate. Comical coming from Mr. tail risk considering unknown long term side effects of gene therapies, blah blah lindy effect blah blah. I’m not antivax.

The Antivaxx propagandists keep supplying you with cherry picked information that distracts & causes statistical confusion. 1) In Dec, unvaxxed over 50 were 45 times (sic) more likely to be hospitalized than boosted ones. 2) Unvaxxed have 5x the risk of infection than boosted.

Duh

A prior Covid-19 infection provided greater protection than vaccination during the Delta wave last year, the CDC said, citing research from California and New York on.wsj.com/3tHkaUQ

I don’t think it is widely appreciated that this is the logical end state for his regret minimization framework.

Reality:

I’ve learned in my life that altruism can be the most dangerous ism. Altruism and catastrophic ineptitude can go hand and hand. See a US emergency room on a holiday weekend as a micro example (or NYC ER in early days of COVID), Bill and Melinda gates foundation as a macro example

Just imagine if an honorable, principled, altruistic and magnanimous politician (or public figure) had Trump's persona & verbal expressions.
