A huge well done to our year 2 boys who narrowly missed out on a spot in the final of the @TowerHamletsSSN football tournament, losing in extra time to the brilliant @cwceastferry during their semi final match up. Well played gents!
They tried it some children didn’t like it but most of them did, I was really impressed well done year 2.
Taste testing gives the children an opportunity to try different foods without any pressure. Year 2 tried African vegetable stew. Ingredients were sweet potato, rice, tomatoes, chick peas, raisins, hot pepper sauce, black pepper and spinach which came from our school garden.
In cooking club the children made a cheesy pasta with leeks, onion and garlic for added flavour.
They gave them a good wash and some of the leeks were used later by the children in cooking club.
Today some of the children in year 2 harvested some leeks from our school garden
They enjoyed their rolls with either jam or butter.
Today our Nursery children made bread rolls, they were practicing their mixing skills. They put the flour and yeast in a bowl with some warm water, and then they rolled the dough into round balls.
Year 2 have been practicing their weighing skills, they weighed flour using grams and water using millilitres.
They chopped pineapple, melon, grapes, strawberries clementines and banana. Delicious.
Nursery children have been practicing their chopping skills, they made a fruit salad.
They tasted amazing. Our young chefs have done it again, well done.
The children then filled them with Cajun shredded chicken, refried black beans, sweet potato and grated cheese.
Water is added and the dough is left to rest for 5 minutes, then formed into round flat cornmeal cakes. They are then shallow fried.
Today some of our children in year 6 made Arepas which is a dish eaten during Mardi Gras which is French for Fat Tuesday or as we know it Pancake day. They started by adding Harina Pan which is a pre cooked corn flour.
Today year 2 enjoyed a testing session and they tried Githeri which is a popular Kenyan dish that is made with beans and corn. They eat the githeri with some Moroccan bread which they made last week.
