And when you have a hammer, no matter how badly designed and broken it may be, everything looks like a nail.

One of the many damaging effects of the Online Safety Act is that every time something bad happens online, people assume that the OSA, and only the OSA, must provide an answer. It's a legislative black hole, sucking policy options over the event horizon, never to be seen again.

All of these industrial warehouses could become London’s third international business cluster, Canary Wharf 2.0, but the Mayor’s spatial development plan won’t allow it.

Old Oak Common is set to be one of the best connected railway stations in the country. Elizabeth Line. HS2. Heathrow. A superhub. But do you see all those massive ugly flat single storey sheds next to it? Sadiq Khan is blocking thousands new homes, and 'protecting' the sheds.

When I asked why the Government hadn't published the deal, they acknowledged doing so "would increase public knowledge about our relations" with China. ...but they also admitted that releasing it would "prejudice relations" with China, as they agreed to keep the deal a secret.

This headline is not strictly correct. Putting that to one side, reading the judgment I learn EU officials, in their wisdom, had the foresight to *specifically* except cream sherry & custard creams from their restrictions on the usage "cream" designation. supremecourt.uk/uploads/uksc_2…

Why are the plans for the Palace? Of Westminster so bad & what can we do? For @TheCriticMag I read 128 pages of “Delivering restoration & renewal of the Palace of Westminster: the costed proposals” report so that you don’t have to. It’s worse than you think. 🧵 …

What’s fascinating is it’s not just that the new seats are much uglier than the old ones. This is obvious to all but elite designers. They’re less comfortable as well. So they fail the functional as well as the visual test.

This is a total Labour canard - the Conservatives fully understand the issues around National Security implications over Chagos - they were fully briefed when in Govt. What Luke is trying to do is disguise how much they use NS to camouflage awkward implications of this ‘deal’

The Conservatives seem to have a real difficulty understanding National Security. In the Chagos Islands debate, I had to explain the deal 3 times-they’re clearly ignoring plain English As they well know, we never confirm where nuclear weapons are stored. Security must come first.
