Moral of this tweet: treat people nicely. Especially people in the service industry
The baristas at the coffee shop I'm working from were just verbally assaulted by some young, white, jerk for requiring proof of vaccination. He called them Nazis and then said they'd be sucking his... Then he left, yelling. Oh, New Orleans
I'm not listening to JBE, but a friend just said LDH had not been counting re-infections. Like my second case (though a year apart) was not counted. I know some good data people, FYI...
Gov. Edwards speaking on the state's COVID-19 response at 10:30 a.m. after Louisiana set another daily case record on Wednesday.

HOW BAD IS OMICRON IN LOUISIANA ? 3000 WORD VERSION
The city's mask mandate is being reinstated, per release: "The decision comes as the city's percent positivity rate is over 30 percent, and hospitalizations are strained, according to Avegno." The state released that statistic last week, on Jan. 5. And that data lags too.
We are really bad at planning for things... This should have happened December 1.
Today, @cityofnola announced the reinstatement of the indoor mask mandate in order to curb the spread of the Omicron variant in NOLA. This change will go into effect Wed (tomorrow) at 6am. Details at ready.nola.gov/restrictions

78% of 915 kids hospitalized last summer with COVID at 6 children’s hospitals were there not just with, but because of COVID; 1.5% (11/713) died, a death rate similar to some types of pediatric open-heart surgery. COVID in kids is not harmless. Let’s stop pretending it is.
