Story time update! I finally got onto dispute resolution and they explicitly refused to give me contractor info/take responsibility themselves. Also apparently the person I spoke to is a fully licence plumber and was apparently present when it all went down?! AMAZING
Said distributor is totally fucked. They are facing massive fucking fines and they know it. Next step is energy ombudsmen and lodging the complaint without a name and letting them sort it out.
-for them, but they refused and said they weren’t authorised. I get that. But god forbid if this contractor causes another leak and somebody is hurt. I’ve tried everything in my power to get a name but they won’t give it to me yet. 🙃
So now I’m waiting for a call from complaints, if I don’t hear anything in another hour, I call them back until I can get somewhere with it. Also from that call, I also tried to get a statement from the company, stating that they are okay with an incompetent contractor working-
I got a reference number, application for compensation to pay my neighbour for his time, and he tried to put me through to complaints. I was told I would get a call from his supervisor, which I got, and he has tried to contact complaints to CALL ME BACK
This convo took an hour, the guy was geat (after I called out the bullshit, gave reference numbers and told him I was aware the prior complaint had been lodged becuase my supplier told me that the distributor had been in touch)
-I didn’t have to wait for s reference number for the complaint department to speak to me. They also can’t give me a direct number to complaints?? Even though I was told that would happen with a reference number (I have the prior convo recorder, I am lodging anothe complaint)
I immediately follow the instructions from the distributor and call them back. And u get the run around. I get transferred a few times to different departments, and land on one that will speak to me. Apparently, the person I spoke to lied to me, complaints lodge immediately and-
— the distributor, so I knew that something was going on in that side. I was finally getting somewhere. At this stage, all I want, is names to report for the gas leak incident, and I still have no gas supply.
To be fair, the supervisors I dealt with were fantastic and I will be submitting feedback for the great job they did, they also were super helpful and gave me some reference numbers/information on the gas distributor, they also told me there was activity on my account from —
This conversation took an hour, I got my answers, and my complaint is pending. They also tried to charge me for reconnection 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 I told them I was happy to pay for the reconnection that was supposed to be done yesterday but 🙃🙃. They waived that fee.
We go through the whole story again, at this point all I want from them is a)the gas turned on, and b) to find out why it wasn’t put on in the first place, when they insisted it would be.
— that I was never offered, because ‘it wasn’t lodged in the system yet’. I take that and figure I’ll call the gas supplier while I wait. So now I called the supplier back. Apparently my account doesn’t exist? amazing. Finally, after insuring my account does exist, it appear.
The first person I speak to, tells me they will lodge a complaint on my behalf, and transfers me to another department at my request. I am insistently told to call back in half an hour, as there is nothing I can do without the reference number for the complaint—
First call is the gas distributor, the gas company said they would call me back, I trusted them to and to their credit they did when I was already on a call. This is where it gets messy.
