These Championship preseason predictions are disrespectful! Without JV9, KDH and Wilf, the 23/24 LCFC team scored 53 goals in the EFL Champo. Same # as 7th place Blackburn last year. Abdul will be even better, BEK will be great and Monga will tear it up. Just you wait! #LCFC
Why post stats glorifying how historically bad this LCFC team is when I could upload memes instead? At least those will make somebody laugh. And I’m not just talking about the normal mirthless chuckles that I’ve had since 2022 . . .
The defeat last Saturday means that LCFC have 10 points from 11 games. Here’s where this team ranks against similar historical LCFC teams (since 1980). Interestingly, this team is better than the Great Escape team was at this point in the season
🎶SUPER COOPER USED TO MANAGE FOREST, BUT NOW HE IS A BLUE! LET’S GIVE HIM HIS DUE - IT’S TIME FOR GREAT ESCAPE PART TWO🎶
Welcome to LCFC, Steve Cooper. From the FA Cup and Europa League with Rodgers to an historic season in the Championship with Maresca (who is the only LCFC manager to win the 2nd Division title immediately after relegation), Cooper has got some big shoes to fill. Up the City! 🦊
The writing is on the wall for Enzo at LCFC, so here’s my take on his legacy. He oversaw the 2nd best Div 2 season in club history, is the only LCFC manager to win the Div 2 title after relegation from Div 1, ranks 9th all-time in the FA Cup and 10th in the EFL Cup. Grazie, Enzo!
Dear Leeds fans, how’s that riot you’ve been working on?
I actually fancy LCFC’s run-in. If you look at the reverse fixtures, we outscored our remaining opponents by a margin of 17 goals scored to 3 conceded. Southampton is a different team now, but we’re at home this time. UP THE CITY 🦊
Not good enough. Again. We’re gonna get smashed by Norwich. Here come the playoffs
Today’s point against Hull seemed like a fair result, maybe even a bit generous to us. With that draw, Maresca’s men are now outperforming Pearson’s title-winners on goal difference. Onward and upward 🦊
With the loss today, Maresca’s 2023/24 LCFC team is now 2 points behind where Pearson’s 13/14 title winners were at this point in their season.
With the win against Bournemouth yesterday, Maresca is now 9th all-time in the LCFC FA Cup rankings. With a win against Chelsea (a 2021 FA Cup final rematch is quite juicy!), he’ll jump above Nigel Pearson as one of only 8 LCFC managers ever to reach the semis 🦊
Still out-pacing Pearson? It’s hard to find a positive spin on this game, but I will say this: Dad and I thoroughly enjoyed the game at FF with @NewYorkFoxes
We’re nowhere near Europe, but I was feeling nostalgic, so here’s a chart ranking the 5 LCFC managers in Europe. Quality points are based on results x prize € (win in UECL = 3 pts; win in EL = 3 x 1.72; CL = 3 x 4.7). Ranieri is 🐐; Rodgers 22 matches > other 4 combined 🤯
Saw a tweet talking about overrated managers. As the LCFC Amateur historian of Twitter, here are my picks: Best manager: Matt Gillies Worst manager: David Pleat Most underrated: Brendan Rodgers Most overrated: Sven-Goran Eriksson
Not our best performance today, by a long shot. Regardless, this has and continues to be an historic season for LCFC. Hopefully, we can put this game behind us and put in a brilliant performance against Leeds on Friday 🦊
After today’s win, here’s the updated Maresca Tracker chart. Frank Womack’s name has an asterisk - he technically didn’t start the season with LCFC, but in only 32 games, he still managed to deliver a 2nd Div. title. Will Maresca’s men do the same? Right now, it’s looking good!
That was a scrappy win, but I’ll take it. Today’s win is just further evidence that this is the greatest team in LCFC’s 2nd Tier history 🦊
Almost two days now until the first FA Cup game of Maresca’s tenure. A good cup run would be excellent! Here are the top gaffers in LCFC’s FA Cup history 🦊
