Every time I put a jacket protector on a book, I think my first library assistant, Mrs. Sears (my “assistant” with 20 years experience who taught me all of my practical skills as a librarian). A reminder that when you teach someone something useful, you are always a part of them.

A #BRIGHTSPOT I observed today is that when students receive assignment feedback through Google Classroom, many reply to it. They are now seeing feedback more as a two-way conversation, than a one-directional judgment.

We end #nationalpoetrymonth2020 #onepoemaday today with a close contender for my absolute favorite poem of all time. I don't have enough Jazz in my soul to do this justice, so please watch Maya Angelou perform her poem "Still I Rise" youtube.com/watch?v=qviM_G…

From arguably the greatest classic poet that you haven’t heard of, Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s sonnet “Patience Taught by Nature” reminds us that the natural world offers the most valuable lessons #onepoemaday #nationalpoetrymonth2020 #litchfieldreads

Today marks the anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth AND death. Honoring his work with Sonnet 73, in which he reflects upon the fact that he is entering the final stage of life. #onepoemaday #nationalpoetrymonth2020 #litchfieldreads
