Oak wilt can be spread aboveground by spores & sap beetles. These spores can be hiding in firewood and attract sap beetles at the site of fresh wounds. Don't move firewood, and don't prune trees when these beetles are active from April-October. Learn more: bit.ly/2ZGOYFn

The weather cooperated with us and the controlled burn in the L Lake wetland went ahead. It sure was satisfying to see! Conditions in some parts of the project area prevented burning but a lot of it was further rolled. Kudos to project partners, & contractor Wildfire Specialists.
Weather permitting, the phragmites patches in the L Lake wetland off Outer Drive in Port Franks will be burned Thursday March 30th as part of the control project by NCC, LSPCG, ABCA and MLS. The burn will be conducted by Wildfire Specialists Inc. Be aware smoke may be visible.

This invasive plant is common in flower pots and hanging plants, but can easily creep into new areas if not managed and disposed of properly. Yellow archangel is on our list of garden plants to avoid! #InvSpWk
