Little behind on this shoutout but better late than never! MFA third-years Justin Howerton and Jalen Giovanni Jones have back-to-back poems in the 10.1 issue of Foglifter! And by back-to-back, we mean back-to-back, on pgs 163 and 164 respectively ‼️
Our MFA alumni have found tremendous success across genres and industries, and alumna Melissa Goslin ('04) is no exception. In October, she won the LSU Documentary Award at the 2025 Louisiana Film Prize Awards! Congrats on this well-deserved home run, Melissa! ⚾🔥

Well... that's a wrap on Fall 2025 Underpass! 🎬 Last night MFA third-years Kyler Carter, Xavier Hawkins, and Brett Hymel Jr. closed out the final Underpass of the semester. Suffice to say they kept us warm with their brilliant stories, essays, and poems 🕯️

Third-year MFA student Brett Hymel has found homes for two new stories! "Self Care" is available NOW as an online special feature in The Cincinnati Review, while "Four Teachers Stapled Together" will appear in issue 52.1 of Black Warrior Review. Big congrats, Mr. Hymel! 🏆
