A perfect example of temperature inversion across Kashmir! The valley floor (Srinagar -2.1°C, Shopian -4.6°C) recorded lower temperatures than higher altitudes like Gulmarg (-0.5°C), due to cold air pooling in low-lying areas under stable atmospheric conditions.
📍Kalaroos cave isn’t a tunnel to Russia. It’s an ancient copper mining site (Tramkhan). The cave/adit is carved along a 3.5 km long quartz vein. Pyrite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, malachite, limonite and azurite are prominent sulfide mineralizations in this quartz vein.
