Imagine if children were being killed routinely in schools due to fires and our solution was to teach educators and children how to perform skin graft surgery instead of... you know... stopping the fires.

Bleeding is the leading cause of death at a mass shooting, but one-third of victims can survive if treated within five minutes. The Stop the Bleed program is teaching students how to do it. NBC News' @DrJohnTorres reports.

This.

Tho I knew some of my kids needed to talk about Thousand Oaks, I didn’t want to scare anyone. Instead I asked them to write a line in response to this sentence: “Last night, twelve libraries burned down.” The result is this uncanny poem. The oldest student is 14.

Oh my goodness...too true

Childhood is about surviving adults.

Preach!

Yestery I listened to someone talk about student ethics, character & decision making. Students exhibit far more of these qualities than he gave them credit for. The fact is students today are often compliant to an archaic system they no longer necessarily relate to or believe in!

You’re not a bad teacher if you’re snappy sometimes or the lesson doesn’t work or that everyone else does this or that and you don’t. You are there, you are a constant, you are yourself - that is as valuable a commodity as anything in education today.

The same thing is happening in Florida. Families who try to refuse Iready are being told they can’t. Families telling districts they don’t want their child’s data shared are being told it’s not up to them.

Making participation in @projunicorn and data interoperability a condition for receiving a public education is an intrusion of privacy and ethically wrong. Say No to @InnovateEDUNYC cc @Parents4Privacy marymurphyiowa.wordpress.com/2018/10/29/who…

Mr. Rogers said it. It is gold.

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” -Mr Rogers

This is a blatantly unconstitutional attempt to fan the flames of anti-immigrant hatred in the days ahead of the midterms. The 14th Amendment’s citizenship guarantee is clear. You can’t erase the Constitution with an executive order, @realDonaldTrump.

65% of 16-17 year olds prefer to read books printed on paper. My own MS kids are in school w/ 1:1 chrome book - almost all materials are on a screen (minus ELA novels.) How should parents feel about that? #rEdPhil

Wondering where all the calls are to walk out Monday. What happens to the work force when the women just don't show up?
