Thank you to the incredible women of @CUSocOfWomen for hosting me tonight. It was a privilege to meet you all, and I’m grateful for the safe space to talk about women, our stories, and ending #FGM. Looking forward to many more powerful conversations. 🖤

Forensic scientists can tell whether a skeleton is male or female by simply looking at the pelvis, skull or bone thickness. If that doesn’t work, they can test DNA (usually amelogenin from tooth enamel). Human biology: science Cross-dressing: not a science

I've received a statement from Emanuel Brünisholz, who starts a ten-day prison sentence in Switzerland tomorrow for saying that men and women have different skeletons. You can write to the Swiss Federal Dept of Justice and police at [email protected] to protest this…

If you were charged with a crime that carries a potential sentence of 2-3 years, I think you’d want the right to request trial by a jury too. Why the Lammy proposals are a false economy that undermines our rights as citizens - on @bbcquestiontime last week 👇

Here we go! #LiteraryAdventCalendar Day 1, and it's one of my all-time favourites: journalist Lynn Barber attempts to interview Margaret, Duchess of Argyll, (ultra posh, with a scandalous past) about her book on dinner parties.

At 3:45 pm on 16 February 1909, an accidental ignition of coal dust caused a massive explosion at the West Stanley colliery in Durham, killing 168 miners. This poster, released shortly after, recorded the faces of them all ~ some as young as 13. Just look at them

My father’s second wife, of 30 years, passed away yesterday. She was 85, and it was not unexpected. I had been looking after her since my father passed 18 months ago. The thing that’s depressing is that I can’t think of anyone who would want to know.
