5th grade scientists in Ms. Shron's class are exploring shadows and the sun's position in the sky throughout the day. They even made their own shadow clocks!
The Language and Literacy family is gathering to share job search strategies in the remote environment. It will be good to have the wisdom of our alums shared with our current students.
Today I finished reading The Lightning Thief to my fourth graders on Zoom. Thank you @rickriordan for such a wonderful book to re-ignite our class read alouds during remote learning. It was such a special way to defy distance and come together through literature. #iteachfourth
This book shows us what taking care of animals (in this case a baby skunk!) can teach us about human connection. A Boy Called BAT also helps us to see things a little differently with thoughtful attention to life on the autism spectrum.
A powerful and mature book on true friendship, resilience and so much more. Here are two of my favorite definitions from Kevin’s (known as “Freak”) self-written dictionary. Liftoff: what happens when you open a book. Writing: talking on paper. #SummerReading
Another wonderful book that escapes reality! Fortunately, The Milk transcends time and space and is filled with dinosaurs, pirates, and magic- not the mention amazing illustrations! #summerreading
I’ve never met a character with a bigger imagination! Loved this story filled with fantasy and humor. #SummerReading
Since its founding 30 years ago, the @possefoundation has sent thousands of talented students from underrepresented groups to selective colleges and universities in cohorts of 10 — “a Posse” — offering them support and community throughout their four years hgse.me/2X568JQ
Loved hearing from Tom Hehir today, fellow @SUSchoolofEd alum at HGSE convocation with a special shout out to Syracuse today in his address! Go orange!
Concluding his remarks, Prof. Hehir: "Be the educator your students remember by teaching them how to think, not what to think... Be the educator willing to question the dominant frames of our times as you promote equity and inclusion, creating a better world for all." #HGSE19
Let the spring/summer reading begin! Laughed out loud at Ramona and her antics in this classic Beverly Clearly book published in 1955! This story made me think of my older brothers and all the silly stories we reminisce about from when we were young :)
❤️ Our endless thanks to all of our preservice teachers, school partners, and all educators during #TeacherAppreciationWeek! Be sure to #ThankATeacher who has made a difference in your life. 📚
2 MORE DAYS until #ArtWeekMA starts! Don’t forget to check calendar.artweekma.org to plan your ArtWeek adventures! Participate in a fashion photo shoot in New Bedford, get involved in a collaborative art installation in Boston using recycled plastics, and so much more!
Wonderful to see artwork from South High in Worcester, MA at On Your Feet!
“We connect best to others around passions we share” I asked Ron for his advice as an elementary educator, he said, “Don’t forget about the joy” :) @hgse Askwith Forum with @RonSuskind on @LifeAnimatedDoc
My favorite slide of the semester 🙌 “Put this on your wall” #inclusionmatters #UDL @hgse @g_schlichtmann
It only made sense to wrap up @TFiveFifty with a rap 😎 This was my project presentation of an online library of pages for students to print and create their own personalized agenda books!
Mock Caldecott unit is a wrap. Took 5 rounds of voting. Things got intense. @MrSchuReads @SophieBlackall
