Writing Prize: leave space in your writing for the reader to do some of the work. Resist over explaining the plot or the characters' motives. Provide enough description, but not too much, so the reader uses their imagination to fill in the 'gaps' and participate in the narrative.

Writing Prize: choose a colour and use the colour in your writing. Is it the colour of someone's coat when two characters first meet, the colour of a door that a character steps through on a memorable day, or does the colour become a motif, or even a character? #creativewriting
