On this day in 1915 Captain Albert Ball VC, DSO & Two Bars, MC was seconded to No. 9 (Reserve) Sqn Royal Flying Corps. He became one of the RFC’s most successful pilots, signified by the Germans burying him with full military honours after his aircraft tragically crashed in 1917.

Had a fantastic time with our youth group on a First World War themed session with us. They created poppy wreaths and poppy pebbles as well as learning about the Sopwith Pup Aeroplane and holding some real items from the era.
