As part of #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth Wellbeing Upstanders have launched a new initiative - the Wellbeing Safe Space. This calming space will now run every Wednesday during breaktimes, offering a quiet, relaxing environment to unwind and take part in mindful activities.
Today students headed out on #BronzeDofE practice expedition in the local area. It gave them the opportunity to gain confidence with map reading, learn about road safety and identify key landmarks to help them navigate the route ready for their assessed expedition in June.
In 5SM Science we have been learning about asteroids and how they move around dependent on gravity and air resistance. We investigated how they move around and how the size of an asteroid impacts the diameter of the crater made on the surface on which it lands.
Joe Travers from IMA Architects recently came into school to present the boy's football team with new football kits kindly sponsored by IMA. The boys were very excited and can't wait to start the new football season in their new kits.
On Friday 9 May Year 4 welcomed National Energy Action into school who hosted an energy workshop which was linked to our Real LiFE mission. Pupils learned how to save energy around the home. We thank @NEA_UKCharity for holding such a great workshop.

Stephen Lawrence Day (normally 22nd April) is about more than remembrance - it's about hope, change and action. The focus is on encouraging young people to reach their full potential to live the life that Stephen was never able to. Thank you to everyone who wore ORANGE today.
Parents recently came into Year 3 classes to talk to the children about the similarities and differences between primary schools in England and other parts of Europe such as Poland, Romania and Italy. Thank you to all parents who visited and gave such an informative lesson.
Kingsway had a wonderful 'Stephen Lawrence' day together on Friday. The children and staff all dressed in something orange, Stephen's favourite colour. All the children took part in an art competition- to create a portrait of Stephen and include some orange! Well done everyone!

Our creative Year 3/4 children took part in a DT day today creating Seasonal tarts- based on cooking and nutrition. The children prepared the vegetables, by chopping, peeling or grating, before designing their tart. Then they created their tart using their chosen ingredients.

Year 1 have been on a REAL LiFE mission to become story tellers. They made puppets, composed their own music, wrote instructions on how to make a sandwich and produced their own puppet show. Parents and carers were invited to a showcase of all this work in a teddy bears picnic.
