bro you left us in a hissy fit cos you weren't selected for a target constituency in his council lol
And for my birthday, here's the Liberal Democrat leader of a council doing a huge recruiting drive for the Green Party. Cheers, Gareth! ๐ Join.greenparty.org.uk
In March there was a vote in Parliament to make a paltry two weeks of paternity leave a statutory right for all new fathers. Rupert Lowe didn't bother to turn up to vote.
Giving birth is obviously an incredibly challenging experience for the mother - trust me, nobody is denying that. I do think though, that fathers should be shown more respect by the NHS during the whole process. No food provided, no basic bedding, nothing. The father is havingโฆ
The two-child limit is cruel, trapping children in poverty and denying them a fair start. This Autumn Budget, ministers must act and end the unfair cap once and for all. @SteveDarlingMP
I was raised on food stamps. We'd buy LOTS of rice/beans and my mom would buy me a pack of cookies. When I had them, I felt like I was like other kids. The same kids that used to constantly make fun of me for being poor. So...I agree... let the kids get the cookies.
I think children should be allowed to experience cookies even if they are poor
A Proportional Electoral System could save Starmer 100 MPs. FPTP will cost him a wipeout in the North of England. Maybe now, in self interest, Labour will introduce a fairer voting system.
We in the Lib Dems need to emulate the successes that D66 has had: be absolutely progressive, offer real social and economic change, focus on the climate, build more housing and infrastructure, and work to lessen the tax burden on hard working people.
A centre-left party looks likely to emerge as the biggest winner in the Dutch national elections. The D66 party, led by Rob Jetten, performed well at the expense of Geert Wilders' anti-Islam populists and the openly gay 38-year-old is poised to become prime minister.
This is why it's hard to imagine Lib Dems losing seats at the national level either

The King is absolutely right to strip Prince Andrew of both his titles and his residence at the Royal Lodge. Itโs clear that Andrew's position had become totally untenable, having disgraced his office and embarrassed the country.

We just stopped Nigel Farageโs plan to drag Britain out of the ECHR and tear up peopleโs rights. Farage wanted to scrap Churchillโs legacy and bring us closer to Trump's America.
When youโve protected British peopleโs rights from the authoritarian regime Nigel Farage craves.
๐จ NEW: MPs have voted to reject Nigel Farage's 10 Minute Rule Bill on leaving the ECHR Yes: 96 No: 154
Cutting welfare reduces Marginal Propensity to Consume for millions of low-income households, who spend almost all they receive. Less spending = less demand = less growth Kemi doesn't understand economics.
๐จ NEW: Kemi Badenoch says "cutting welfare spending" is key to growth and repeats her offer to work with Labour Starmer: "They crashed the economy, inflation went up to 11%, mortgages went through the roof, welfare spending went up ยฃ33bn, & they want to give us advice" #PMQs
A list of why I won't: โข I support having nuclear weapons โข I support nuclear energy โข Reparations are completely unworkable โข Immigration needs to be reduced โข I don't want to break up the UK โข You have no housing targets โข The greenbelt needs to be radically reformed
I'm loving all the greens liking this thinking I'd even consider joining
Liberal Democrat MPs just defeated Nigel Farageโs Bill in Parliament to tear up peopleโs rights and withdraw from the ECHR. Farage wants to do away with the Britain Churchill built and turn it into Trump's America. We won't let him.
