More research backing up what we have been saying for months. 🦠Bigger class could mean up to 5 x more COVID-19 infections And still @fordnation @sflecce won’t fund smaller, safer classes for our kids. It’s all dollars & cents to them #onted nationalpost.com/news/canada/bi…
The most important thing we’ve learned about illness prevention is these measures only work if people can do them. Many people can’t stay home every time their child has a mild symptom, or even a fever. A sick day may mean missing groceries or a lost job. #onted #onpoli 1/2
If they are fortunate enough to have a safe route. We still have schools with no sidewalk in front of them.
DYK, children who walk or bike to school on a regular basis also benefit in the classroom with: • improved concentration • better stress-coping abilities • reduced feelings of isolation • increased social interaction bit.ly/34eYEu8
I would like to come out of this COVID crisis with a better world for all - part of that is addressing climate change. Ottawa needs to do better
At the last council meeting, @ottawacity proposed clawing back $2 million (80%!) from the city's #climate plan. Climate was the only program targeted for specific attack. Meanwhile, Ottawa continues to spend massive $ widening roads, that only induce more traffic. Why?
1/4 We now have detailed characteristics for a subset of #COVID19 cases in 🇨🇦. See the details on who (age, sex), what (exposure setting), where (geographic distribution) & when (onset) here: bit.ly/3apZFj3 #StayHomeSavesLives #PhysicalDistancing #StayInsideYourBubble
Thread: Despite the nightmare LRT, many #ottcity councillors will tell you, it’s the bus service that generates the most complaints. For @ottawamag - I dug into just how unreliable bus service in Ottawa is. New stats show it’s barely passing since LRT. ottawamagazine.com
Everything you wanted to know about the SNC-Lavalin LRT contract, but were too confused to ask | CBC News cbc.ca/news/canada/ot…

SNC-Lavalin's 'poor' LRT bid should have been tossed, evaluators found | CBC News
SNC-Lavalin was awarded the $1.6-billion contract to extend Ottawa's north-south Trillium Line even though the team assembled to assess the bids reached a "unanimous consensus that the proposal...

Our preliminary shortlist of what needs to get done to get to zero #emissions in time: - stop the urban boundary expansion - build all new builds to a much higher level of #energyefficiency - invest in the retrofit economy - invest massively in #transit - move beyond the car
"CBC requested an interview with the @ottawacity @OC_Transpo but was told the delays weren't urgent enough for a reply over the weekend." Really? Big disconnect! #ottnews #ottcity #ottpoli More than 50 bus trips cancelled Saturday — and it's not clear why cbc.ca/news/canada/ot…
Why so many cancellations this wknd, @OC_Transpo?? There were >40 reported yesterday (which means actual number was higher) & we’re already >dozen at 10am Sunday...ALL leading to 30- 120min service gaps! This is UNACCEPTABLE. @sarahmeaghang #OCTranspo #OttTransit /SB Examples:
“We are seeing a surge in attention around urban #trees around the world … not just because they are beautiful, but because cities realize that trees are an important part of resiliency, health, wellness, happiness, economic benefit – the list goes on.” theguardian.com/cities/2019/no…
Looking at @ottawacity 2020 budget. Still missing Transit Commission report and excluding #LRT because it's not regular line item. Spending on the wrong things (grey) makes spending on the right things (#ottwalk #ottbike #ClimateAction #GreenInfrastructure #trees) harder.
@OC_Transpo @ps_oc what is the main cause for this? Your leaving passengers on the street on a weekend schedule. You want us to pay for higher fares for this @JimWatsonOttawa? #ottpoli #ottnews #ottcity #Fight4FairFares
Either @octranspo had a lot of drivers call in sick today or the fleet itself is sicker than we think. More than 60 trips cancelled today. Being a Saturday, can't see these buses getting stuck in traffic, which is usually the number one reason a bus gets cancelled.
Where was @JimWatsonOttawa s fury about LRT problems 3 months ago when issues were regularly coming up? @jchianello has some thoughts . cbc.ca/news/canada/ot…
We need to get more drivers off the road! We need better public transit and more walk-able cities.

Bay Ward councillor @tm_kavanagh tees off on poor bus service #ottnews ottawacitizen.com/opinion/column…
Really curious to see what this means. More frequent service on existing routes? Buses on standby in case of train delays? Buses that serve the core to help with capacity on the train? When will we hear what the 40 buses will be dedicated to? @BarrhavenJan @JimWatsonOttawa
Mayor @JimWatsonOttawa sent out statement saying city will spend $3.5M to put an extra 40 buses back on the road next week. #ottnews
