New version of LibreSignal is finally released. But please be aware that you can now also download official Signal: signal.org/android/apk/
Please test it thoroughly, voice/video calls should also work without Google Play if you enable it in settings (see whispersystems.org/blog/signal-vi…)
Latest version of Signal 3.30 should finally work without Google Play! Independent build is already in main repo on fdroid.eutopia.cz

Btw. all thanks to @CopperheadOS for Noise fork. It is great to have temporary alternative until WebSocket support is merged in Signal.
LibreSignal in main repo on fdroid.eutopia.cz is still maintained. It is built from unmodified Signal sources (only name is changed)
When it is merged, Noise would not be needed anymore. You would just be able to use LibreSignal from main repo even without Google Play S.
Noise is fork based on official WebSocket pull request for Signal (see github.com/WhisperSystems…). Hopefuly it will get merged in near future.
Reminder again: LibreSignal (experimental WebSocket fork) is not supported anymore. But there is new option: Noise (copperhead.co/android/docs/u…)
E2E is not yet enabled by default (while in beta), but anyway this is great! First trully decentralized modern protocol with Axolotl crypto
E2E encryption has finally landed to @RiotChat and it has been audited by NCC Group! matrix.org/blog/2016/11/2… @matrixdotorg
Wire is unfortunately also centralized. There are other options, eg. Conversations (only Android) or @RiotChat (not yet, E2E in near future)
But keep in mind that this is exceptional. It is not supported anymore, you should switch to some other secure messenger (e.g. @wire) [2/2]
Due to popular demand (and thanks to mimi89999 who did the hard work) I have released one last build of LibreSignal - WebSocket fork [1/2]
We received a grand jury subpoena for Signal user data. With help from @ACLU, this is the request and our response: whispersystems.org/bigbrother/eas…
