Nettles are the scourge of the British runner. They rule out some of my best running routes May - Oct. I once brute-forced my way through a large nettles patch in skimpy shorts, thinking “how bad can it be?” Answer: medically, not bad… but I barely slept a wink that night.

The humble doorway pull up bar - surprisingly useful. The hanging stretch is one of the best: with this you can do 60 secs anytime For upper body home workouts you can splice press-ups and pull-ups into the most hectic morning routine Good value at $25/£20

Beef heart with slow cook juices while getting sun

My top 5 recovery tools: - sauna - cold plunge - sunshine - beef - early night Last week I took 2 straight days off exercise and did all of these. I was ready to go again on day 3.

If proven, this would be a big deal! Seems like it would not be too hard to design a study that controlled for the known vitamin D promoters (sunlight and diet) and had a test group doing daily cold plunge? If only there was a Big Cold lobby who could fund it 😂

Cold exposure triggers mitochondria in brown fat to dramatically increase activity for thermogenesis. These activated mitochondria emit ultraviolet biophotons that may convert cellular cholesterol to Vitamin D, bypassing the need for sunlight.

Fair point but… I criticise vegans for this not because they are trying to simulate a food they don’t want to eat. It is because they are trying to simulate a food they have declared immoral. Carnivores do not see bread as immoral, just unhealthy.

It cracks me up when carnivores make fun of vegans for trying to recreate plant-based meat... And are busy themselves trying to make animal-based bread. Do you not see the irony?

Beef fore-rib I cooked for the family yesterday. Was very popular.

6 eggs, 100g smoked salmon and 120g mozzarella. My 3 favourite non-beef lunch options all together.

Shredded slow-cooked oxtail with eggs. Not pretty but very tasty.

Chicken thighs and chicken livers. Will also have a dose of fish oil with this one to improve the omega ratio. Cost ~£8 / $10

That’s it: the D3 tablets stop today Since vit D is fat-soluble with a half-life of 2-3 weeks, if you fill the tank on a sunny day it’s no big deal if you miss 1 or 2 days. Just make sure when the opportunity presents, you strip down as much as decency allows & get out there

I encounter a lot of animals on my Sunday morning easy runs. Since I buy local there’s a non-zero chance one of these will form the basis of a future meal. I can accept this with equanimity.

Good short article from Malcolm Kendrick, who 18 years ago wrote a book called “The Great Cholesterol Con”, one of the early signs for me that all was not as it seemed.

"With great risk comes great reward." However, this saying doesn't apply to statin users. How much longer do you think you will live if you take a statin ? Find out ⤵️ 🙄 drmalcolmkendrick.org/2015/10/27/how…
