This is the core to the thesis. "...a blatant sexualization that artists would not dare to submit their treasured male characters to."

Why are comics stuck in the past? Is it that a history of art as expression prevents people from recognizing the flaws?

A major issue in the medium of comics and graphic novels is that men are treated utterly differently. Other mediums have evolved.

"...meant to symbolize: equality, strength and the female mind not sex, sex, sex...not this picture perfect view of what a girl should be."

Female characters are often posed to show both their butt and breasts simultaneously.

Even if there is an unrealistic world created, full of sexism, it is still a world full of sexism.

"Of course, on one level these characters are meant to be totally and completely unrealistic" is a sexist argument often made.

"40% of comic book readers are female" is a good point to bring up. This is why there is more outcry against these sexist depictions now.

As exemplified by the "Hawkeye Initiative," male characters are not drawn the same way as male characters.

Addressing the the common rebuke, "But there are many strong women in comics" is unnecessary. They're largely hyper sexualized fantasies.

Comics are still full of sexist designs. The "boob window" is ridiculous. Superman gets a giant "S," but Power Girl..

"Female characters have no such 'alter ego.' " I had not thought of this one. Times are changing slowly with Kamala. tiny.cc/pw2svx
