Shout out to @chingfordlc for being so supportive. Being a wheelchair user going to the gym is not always the easiest experience or the most welcoming but working out here has been fab! Welcoming, accepting, gentle and taking it slowly feels celebrated! #accesiblegym
as a disabled person, I struggle with the reality that I have to effectively advocate for myself in order to get the services/support I need- but if I self-advocate "too well" then I'm seen as competent, too "high-functioning" & thus (allegedly) don't require any assistance/help.
