Maine will use $3 million from VW settlement to fund fuel-efficient vehicles
Schools, local government and businesses can replace old diesel engines, using money from a settlement over charges that the car company tried to cheat on emissions tests.

VW Settlement Strategy. The Beneficiary Mitigation Plan. To administer the 14.7 billion dollars in funds, an “Environmental Mitigation Trust” has been established, and states will apply to become beneficiaries of the trust. See the BMP here: maine.gov/mdot/vw/bmp/
VW Settlement Timeline. The second round of allocated money to replace heavy duty polluters with cleaner fuel vehicles is coming up. Applications are due between September 16th and Nonmember 15th. Here's the application site- maine.gov/mdot/vw/applic… Tweet at us for help!
The Volkswagen Settlement. VW allowed 500,000 U.S. cars to cheat government exhaust emissions tests, emitting up to 40 times the legally allowable pollutants. Maine receives funding from this settlement to pay for projects that reduce NOx emissions. Stay tuned for more info!
