I've been hearing a lot about "load management" lately...
Great reminder that it's important for us coaches to stay grounded in the idea that it's not about us, it's about the athletes. Teaching is such a big part of coaching.
🔊 Some of the Worst Football Coaches are the Loudest 💬 “If you’ve ever been around a loud coach, one that just screams & yells, listen to what he’s saying & see if he’s even teaching.” 💬 “We have players that need to be taught & we need teachers.” - Freddie Kitchens
Really interesting question here. How important is it to "look the part" as a strength coach? Fascinating to see the different perspectives people have.
Lots of continued debate about looking the part, training for the part etc. I’ve said this numerous times. No one who doesn’t know me would ever ask me for S+C or fitness advice. I’m skinny/fat, bald w/ glasses. Just remember it’s not about us, it’s about them.
If you're a S&C coach, consider following @CraigMEdwards if you're not already doing so. I've only been doing Twitter for a few weeks, but regularly checking out his stuff has been a great resource for me thus far.
Show up. Do the work. Show up. Do the work. Show up. Do the work. Show up. Do the work. Show up. Do the work. Show up. Do the work. Show up. Do the work. Show up. Do the work. Show up. Do the work. Show up. Do the work. Consistency is the mark of a champion
I may still be trying to get a hang of this, but here are my three most effective exercises (in no particular order) that I get my guys to use: -Drinking water -Sleeping enough -Eating well

Today was a good day! 🏋️♂️🦵💪😝
Question for my more experienced S&C coaches: what kind of feedback, if any, do you get from your former athletes about your S&C impacting them later in life? What do they still do? What did they stop doing? General life outlooks etc.?
Was honestly a little apprehensive about getting into this S&C Twitter world, but coming across @JoeAratari and his feed has legitimately got me on board with it. Thanks for what you're putting out here, Joe.
Goal of S&C simplified ➡️ Move well, move fast, move strong, and be able to do it for a long period of time.
Be technical and learn what you're doing the right way, no matter what the weight is. Just because you're starting something in college instead of high school doesn't mean you get to skip ahead.
“My gym won’t let me throw medicine balls off the wall” Here are three great alternatives: -Explosive Pushups -Lying MB Chest Pass -MB Slam Variations These are a little more difficult to track progress. You should be fine so long as you keep fatigue low and intent high.
Small thing that goes a long way (at any level): Have athletes help to set up and tear down the weight room.
These commentators talking about an athlete’s agility as a natural trait like it’s not something this guy worked on for weeks/months/years in the weight room 🤦🏻♂️
Now that I'm working with college athletes, it's even more clear to me how important it is to have strength professionals working in high schools. The number of bad habits I correct from athletes who just tried to get "gains" in high school is disheartening.
Couldn’t agree more
We ask a lot of our athletes -Get stronger, faster, eat better, rest more, don’t miss, track everything etc What are we asking ourselves and our staff to do everyday to be better for our athletes? If we want athletes to be better each day,we should hold ourselves to same standard
Sport science technology is there to inform, not to make a decision!
