Took 3 months to find it in me to write anything of substance about losing my mother, but the holidays felt like the right time to do it. Of course, she was on top of things and did her Christmas shopping over the summer this year.

Ahead of the holidays, Mason Schweizer shares a column about his late mother, her sports fandom and holiday grief. daily-journal.com/opinion/masons…

The Kays are starting off Week 7 locally with their homecoming game. We also have @MSchweizerTDJS at DeKalb at Bradley-Bourbonnais and @ATuminoTDJS at Bishop McNamara at Wheaton Academy

Hello from Kankakee, where the Kays have their homecoming matchup against Bloom Twp. Kankakee is back at home for the first time since week 1 and the Blazing Trojans are looking to snap a two game losing streak. Coverage and story for @TDJsports @FNDrive

That 4-4 tie will be our final in what was the most thrilling, back-and-forth soccer game I’ve covered all year

Hori’s third ties us 4-4 with 11 to play

Oliver Malkowski scores off a corner to put Grant Park up 4-3 with 16 minutes left

Hori scores another early in the second to tie us at 3

Not sure who it was, but someone from the Eagles just banged one in from just inside the center line to make it 3-2 at the half

And Cordes is gonna notch his hat trick with just moments left in the half

Now Cordes again. Three goals in three minutes, Grant Park leads 2-1
