This isn't a theoretical issue or about helping the NHS. This is real people's lives (including mine) who are disabled or older and deserve the support they need. @RachelReevesMP @wesstreeting @Keir_Starmer It might seem too hard but we're here to help bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Congratulations @AnnaSeverwright and all the other winners
Congratulations @SKinnock on becoming care minister. I draw on social care so know it's huge value to me but also wider society. We are often the last people new ministers meet with but we have lots of ideas & can help,so please draw on our expertise too @socfuture @wesstreeting
My Church had its annual general meeting today. I didn't feel up to attending but I was in its annual report. I thought I would share my bit below:
Will, it's far too early to think about Christmas unless you have some freebies 😂

Agreed, having just got on a train (without the prebooked assistance being there 🤷♀️) train travel is already stressful & often puts disabled people off travelling. These stealth staff cuts will make it almost impossible for many to travel or get the assistance they need.
These plans will utterly bar disabled individuals from accessing the rail network. They are unjust, discriminatory, and shockingly appalling. We must vehemently oppose them with unwavering determination! telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/07/0…
I think this is a very helpful look at autism from the perspective of one autistic woman. 'There's no one way to be autistic' bbc.co.uk/ideas/videos/t… via @bbcideas
@BBCNewsnight welcome you talked about social care but I heard tonight: 'vulnerable & frail' 'elderly & infirm' 'people who need looking after'. This language is not helpful & you never mentioned 1/3 are working age adults like me (I am none of the above)...

I was really pleased to be on this commission. I think the key value that everyone (regardless of age or disability) should be able to flourish is so important. Glad @JustinWelby and the Church of England using their voice to support the call for a much needed better social care.
It was wonderful to be at the launch of #ReimaginingCare today, meeting those who were involved in creating such a vital and inspiring vision for our society. I pray we take this opportunity for change, to rebuild something broken into something much better – to reimagine care.

I am me. I have unique views. I am different. I believe my autism has influenced this. I believe in forgiveness of all and second, third etc chances because God allows me this through his son Jesus Christ. God puts no limit on forgiveness so neither do I. God is the judge not me.
I was really pleased to be a special adviser as a person with lived experience to this committee alongside @JonGlasby. The voice of people with lived experience was really listened to throughout & I think a powerful example that things can be done differently.
The voices of #LivedExperience have been central to our inquiry. Our findings are reflected in the testimonies of the #OlderAdults, #DisabledPeople and #UnpaidCarers that we heard from. Find out, in their words, the key highlights from our report: ukparliament.shorthandstories.com/new-deal-adult…
For this vision to happen, a lot of change is needed. Our recommendations are intended to start this programme of change.
📢 The #HLAdultSocialCare Cttee's report is now live. It found that the continued #invisibility of #SocialCare dramatically impacts the lives of disabled adults, older people and unpaid carers. This is unfair and unsustainable, and needs to change. ⬇️ Watch our explainer video:
