#BSE18 Educational institutions will start being true to their cause more when they stop trying to act like money-hungry businesses - $54,000 for a year of tuition rofl

#BSE18 If most students are vulnerable to getting myopic and caring only about course grades rather than course learning, there's something wrong with how our education system helps our students visualize their journey

#BSE18 The educational system these days does not reward learning as much as it rewards conformity.

#BSE18 Education is a journey of exploration. Doesn't help when people impose their agendas/doctrines/biases on you.

#BSE18 Education and Enlightenment are independent of each other. Education does help with enlightenment, but I have a hunch that the kind of indoctrination that takes place in western institutes doesn't help much.

#BSE18 I told a European American person who studied on the Pittsburgh main campus about Qatar Foundation's 0-interest loan and the work-to-pay-it-off option, and he was blown out of his mind. Sadly, interest has remained to be the only option for students.

#BSE18 Student loans are the next big thing. 1) Because of the greed of private educational institutes for sure, but also 2) Because of interest.

#BSE18 When businesses don't care about customers, customers take a fall. And when customers take a fall (as they have in every global financial crisis), businesses take a fall too. When will they learn?

#BSE18 Ayn Rand's philosophy continues to fail in many examples - banks are one of them. The NINJA loans reeked of Randism. And failed miserably - because banks were being too selfish.

#BSE18 Banking is good - Banks may not be - conclusion drawn at the end of the guest lecture. I agree.

#BSE18 The western world will shut down if interest is removed from their transactions. Selfishness is so central to the culture that even a parent charges interest upon a loan to his own child. Sad.

#BSE18 Loans are meant to help people, right? Since when have we started thinking about profit while trying to help people? The aim of helping people is not profit. PEriod.

#BSE18 Consider a poor man coming to you for a loan. You give it to him on a 15 percent interest rate. If he had the extra money to give you your interest, he wouldn't ask you for a loan to begin with.

#BSE18 Interest is the disease that has made the rich richer and poor poorer and continues to do so everyday but we do not for one second question it, because we all imagine ourselves in the power of the loan giver one day.

#BSE18 While it is true that we all need banks to safeguard our money, banks have caused large amounts of suffering - interest is the name of the disease

#BSE18 I see why CSR departments get so much flak from the other departments...but it is sad.

#BSE18 CSR is the morality in business? Otherwise it is just Ayn Rand land? Hmm

#BSE18 It would be good to read up on more companies that have implemented purpose based csr

#BSE18 Purpose based CSR is good - do a bit of both. With the right intention, we can make strides

#BSE18 In countries with a large amount of foreign labor, CSR initiatives need to focus them - they are vulnerable
